Facility Based Programs
Lakeside Curative Service Facility-Based Work Service Program is designed to provide people with developmental disabilities a safe, integrated work setting. The goals of the Facility-Based Work Service Program are three fold, first to provide employment, second to provide quality of life, and third to help develop people with developmental disabilities to reach their maximum potential.

The participants are respected as employees of Lakeside Curative Services and they earn a paycheck for each week worked. They will also earn one day of paid vacation for every three hundred hours worked; this is based on their average work day. They will earn a piece rate that is based on a commensurate wage rate of $7.36 per hour. This rate allows people to earn a better wage than other organizations that may use a piece rate formula of lesser value. They will work on a variety of work tasks that will be provided through our sub-contract work, which includes packaging, light assembly, labeling, collating and repacking. These jobs will provide varying functioning and interest levels. Each individual will be given an appropriate work schedule based on their own abilities. At intervals where work is unavailable or limited, due to lack of customer demand, the consumers will be engaged in other vocational rehabilitative services/training such as: social skills training, life skills training, and employment skills training; this training is non-paid, but it serves as a beneficial process in the development of positive worker traits. These services are designed to increase the consumers’ abilities through a wide range of activities including educational games, classroom instruction, and media training.

LCS’ Facility-Based Services also helps to develop appropriate social circles. The development of friendships within the facility and community are essential to gaining quality of life. LCS assists in development of these social circles by hosting picnics, monthly employee luncheons, Christmas parties, support groups, etc.
Lastly, the vocational staff assists people with developmental disabilities reach their maximum potential. Most of our employees are encouraged to use the public transportation system, yet the option to use specialized transportation can be coordinated by the LCS staff. While no one in our Facility-Based Work Service will be pressured to move on to other programming, a person’s needs and desires are always taken into consideration. LCS currently has twenty Community sites that are available for continued training and/or employment for the individuals in our Facility-Based Program.
Our Facility-Based Work Service Program is offered five days a week and closes only on selected holidays. Vacations will be requested by the employee and approved by the appropriate supervisor/case manager. LCS does not have shutdowns. Work hours for Facility-Based employees are from 9:00 to 3:00. These hours can be adjusted to meet the employees’ needs. Semi-annual reviews are scheduled to determine if the Facility-Based Work Service is the appropriate program for the employee.
The Facility-Based Work Service is offered at 2503 Lincolnwood Court. The building meets all ADA requirements; services are available to non-English speaking people and hearing impaired clients. We currently have members on staff that can communicate through Spanish and through sign language. If the signers cannot perform to the level required, outside interpreters will be brought in.
Our program has been designed by using the standards set by CARF. This is an accreditation that guarantees you, as an agency, that we meet the standards expected from a vocational service provider.
